The Youth Union of Uzbekistan has an established primary organization at Karshi State University. In accordance with the Joint Resolution No. 6 dated April 29, 2023, adopted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and the Central Council of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan, a Youth Council operates within the university. The Youth Council consists of members representing six directions and coordinators from twelve faculties. Its primary goals and responsibilities are as follows:
- The main objective of the primary organization is to protect the rights and legitimate interests of student youth studying at the higher education institution, strengthen their spiritual and ideological outlook, support talented young people in all aspects, and enhance their social activity. Additionally, organizing students’ free time in a meaningful way and assisting in the realization of their initiatives and ideas are among the priority areas of the organization’s activities.
- Promoting ecological culture among youth through environmental protection activities, rational use of natural resources, and support for environmental initiatives is an integral part of its work.
- The primary organization sets a number of important tasks. First of all, it develops proposals for practical measures aimed at supporting students and protecting their rights and interests within the higher education institution. The organization also works to improve medical awareness among young people, promote a healthy lifestyle, and conduct awareness campaigns aimed at preventing diseases. It also actively participates in ensuring the social and legal protection of students in need, including orphans and those deprived of parental care. Furthermore, it works on the social rehabilitation and reintegration of young people affected by or vulnerable to offenses.
- The organization places special emphasis on fostering patriotism and devotion to the homeland among students, instilling in them the ideas of national independence, national values, religious tolerance, interethnic harmony, and family values. It also helps young people understand their rights and responsibilities as defined by the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan and raises awareness about the essence of reforms being implemented within the framework of state youth policy.
- Studying student appeals and problems and providing practical assistance in resolving them is another key area of activity. In addition, regular activities are carried out to ensure that students receive quality education, learn foreign languages, master modern information and communication technologies, and are guided toward professional development.
- To identify, encourage, and support talented youth, various competitions, intellectual games, creative projects, as well as clubs and extracurricular groups are organized. Special attention is also given to promoting reading culture, increasing interest in books, and developing a strong reading habit among students.
- The organization contributes to forming a strong ideological immunity among young people against harmful influences disguised as “mass culture,” as well as against various information attacks, religious extremism, missionary activities, and radical ideas.
- Moreover, to promote youth tourism, various excursions are organized to introduce students to historical monuments, sacred sites, museums, theaters, and modern structures built during the years of independence.
- Finally, special attention is given to promoting sports among students, especially women, supporting their interest in sports, and creating favorable conditions for their participation in various sports competitions.
