University support for student-led green start-ups and sustainable technologies

Karshi State University actively supports student innovation and the development of environmentally sustainable start-up initiatives. The final stage of the programme, known as "Pitch Day," was organized in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) as part of the project "Promoting Green Industrialization in Uzbekistan," implemented by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in collaboration with the U-Enter Innovation Entrepreneurship Centre. A total of 258 applications were submitted to the programme, of which 20 start-up projects advanced to the final stage. The proposed initiatives covered sustainable waste management, improving solar panel efficiency, energy-saving technologies, irrigation system modernization, renewable energy solutions and industrial wastewater treatment and reuse. Following the final evaluation, Shahrizoda Shamsiddinova's "Clean Water" project was selected to receive a grant of UZS 60 million to support its further development. This achievement demonstrates the potential of university-based innovation to address environmental challenges through practical solutions. The grant provides financial support for the development of a student-led green initiative and encourages young innovators to contribute to sustainable technologies and resource management.
Through supporting student entrepreneurship and participation in green innovation programmes, Karshi State University contributes to the development of environmentally responsible technologies and a low-carbon, sustainable economy.
