First-year students of the Geography programme at Karshi State University, under the guidance of Associate Professor B. Eshboyev and Senior Lecturer S. Boymurodov, conducted field activities in the Yakkabog' foothills, Beshnov, Eshakmaydon, the Khontaxti mountain slopes, and Kitob Geological Nature National Park. During the field activities, educational and awareness-raising work on water resources, their importance, conservation, and sustainable management was conducted in the studied areas. Special attention was given to the hydrological characteristics of the Qizilsuv and Turnadaryo rivers and the Noghaili Reservoir, where students carried out practical observations and learned about the role of water resources in the natural environment and local communities. Using hydrological, meteorological, topographic, and geological instruments, the students explored local natural conditions and examined geographical processes related to water resources. These activities helped strengthen their theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills in geographical observation and field research.
Through these educational activities, Karshi State University promotes awareness of the importance of protecting water resources, using water responsibly, and supporting sustainable water management among students and local communities.
nternational seminar on resource-Efficient Technologies in Agriculture
Karshi State University participated in an international seminar entitled "Technological Solutions for Introducing Resource-Efficient Technologies in Agriculture," organised in cooperation with the Zamin International Public Foundation, the M. Mirzayev Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking, Russia's Terra Tech JSC, Limatek LLC, Flyseeagro Group of Companies, and Transutilization LLC. The seminar brought together researchers, experts, university faculty members, and students to discuss innovative approaches to the sustainable use of natural resources in agriculture, with particular emphasis on water conservation, efficient irrigation, soil protection, and energy efficiency. Presentations by Russian professors and researchers covered a range of practical and technological solutions, including satellite imagery analysis for agricultural monitoring, optimisation of water resources, and water-saving techniques for growing maize and potatoes. Other topics included rice and watermelon cultivation, the restoration of water reservoirs, biological plant protection using entomophages, and the recycling of organic waste. The discussions highlighted the importance of applying modern technologies to reduce unnecessary water consumption, improve agricultural resource management, and promote environmentally responsible farming practices. The seminar also provided an opportunity for Karshi State University faculty members and students to strengthen their knowledge of innovative agricultural technologies and sustainable water management.
Water conservation awareness seminar for the local community of Kitab district
First-year students of the Department of Agrochemistry and Ecology at Karshi State University organised an educational seminar for residents of Kitob district on the rational use and conservation of water resources. The seminar aimed to raise public awareness of the importance of water in everyday life, agriculture, and environmental sustainability. Participants were introduced to practical approaches to using water efficiently, avoiding unnecessary water waste, and protecting local water resources for future generations. Particular attention was given to the importance of responsible water consumption in households and agricultural activities, the adoption of water-saving practices, and the role of every community member in preserving this essential natural resource. The seminar also highlighted how small changes in daily habits can contribute to reducing water waste and promoting a more sustainable environment. Through this community outreach initiative, students had the opportunity to share their knowledge with local residents, strengthen their environmental awareness, and encourage responsible attitudes towards water use.
Karshi State University continues to promote environmental education and community engagement by encouraging students to apply their academic knowledge to real-world sustainability challenges.
